If you’ve never had a professional massage, it’s normal to feel a little unsure about what happens once you walk in. At Luna Rain Massage in Muskegon, our goal is for you to feel comfortable from the moment you book to the moment you leave. Here’s exactly what to expect at your first visit, so nothing catches you off guard.
Before your appointment
Luna Rain is by appointment only, so your time is reserved just for you. When you book, you’ll be asked a few simple questions about your health history and what you’re hoping to get out of the session — whether that’s relief from a nagging shoulder, help with lower back tension, or simply an hour to unwind. There’s no need to prepare anything special. Arriving five minutes early gives you time to settle in.
When you arrive
You’ll be welcomed into a calm, private space. Your therapist will talk with you briefly about any areas of tension, injuries, or pressure preferences. This is the time to speak up — there’s no such thing as too much information, and everything you share helps tailor the session to you.
During the massage
You’ll have privacy to undress to your comfort level and lie on a heated table under a sheet and blanket. You’re only ever undraped in the specific area being worked on. Throughout the session, your therapist will check in on pressure — if something feels too firm or too light, just say so. Some people like to chat; most prefer to close their eyes and drift. Both are completely fine.
Not sure which style suits you? Our guide to deep tissue massage in Muskegon explains when firmer, focused pressure makes the most sense.
After your session
Take your time getting up. It’s common to feel deeply relaxed, and occasionally a little tender the next day if you had deep work done — that fades quickly. Drinking water and moving gently helps. Many clients like to book their next visit before they leave so they can keep the momentum going.
